Julian Nagelsmann: We responded well.
"A win is always vital, and today was no exception," said Julian Nagelsmann, who was pleased with his team's performance against Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The relief on the players' faces was palpable as Bayern cruised to a 4-0 victory. Nonetheless, Jamal Musiala, the game's standout performer with a goal and a pair of assists, was quick to point out: "We're still not completely out of the woods. We must perform well in our upcoming games."
Reactions to the Leverkusen game
Mr. Oliver Kahn: "It was a good start, but we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves. Every game must be played in this manner. I'm optimistic if we do that."
Nagelsmann, Julian: "A win is always important, and today is no exception. We're pleased with the outcome and the manner in which we won. We benefited from the early goal. We were far more effective than in the previous game. In the first half, we stopped the counter-attacks. The game was in our hands. The second half was much more open. It was a positive reaction in light of recent results. We're pleased and hope to continue in the Champions League."
Neuer, Manuel: "The reaction and method we used were perfect. We're capable of playing that way again, and we want to do so against Plzen at home. If we do, we'll go to Dortmund in high spirits and try to win. Given today's dominant performance, I am optimistic."
Kimmich, Joshua: "It was a good game at a critical juncture in our season. Obviously, recent results have been disappointing. Fortunately, today was better, and we're hoping it's the start of a trend."
Musiala, Jamal: "We all want to be number one and win. That is exactly what we demonstrated today, and it is exactly what we must demonstrate in our upcoming games. We're still not completely out of the woods. We must perform well in our upcoming games. We were able to get behind the defense and make the necessary moves. I got lucky with my goal because Hradecky touched it. Even though my season is going well, I still want to improve and score more goals. We were all under pressure, so we concentrated on ourselves."
The Bayer 04 Leverkusen camp's reaction
Gerardo Seoane (coach of Bayer 04 Leverkusen): "The worst thing that could have happened was an early goal. Bayern's combination play was excellent, and they were in a good mood, but we were not strong enough in the tackle. In some situations, we lacked the necessary bite. Today, we weren't aggressive enough."
Midfielder Kerem Demirbay (Bayer 04 Leverkusen): "We went there with the intention of winning. But Bayern dominated from the start, making it difficult. They outclassed us in every way. They did an excellent job and have an excellent coach. But it's a difficult situation for us. We must now analyze the game. Everyone must question whether they truly gave it their all."
