Real Madrid passed up a huge opportunity to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer. Manchester City is thought to have signed the Norwegian superstar for around €60 million due to a release clause. That is proving to be the bargain of the season, as he is off to an incredible start in the Premier League.
It's difficult to think of anyone who has come in and completely dominated the Premier League like Haaland. There is most likely no precedent in history.According to Transfermarkt statistics, Haaland has 14 goals and 3 assists in 8 Premier League appearances so far. That would be an understatement to say it was extraordinary. It's even more than that, and if he keeps performing like this, he'll break a lot of records.
Naturally, Real Madrid are being linked with a future move for Haaland, with rumours circulating that he has a €200 million release clause that will become active in the summer of 2024. However, Manchester City appears to be ready to deal them a transfer blow in that regard.Manchester City is ready to deal a blow to Real Madrid in the transfer of Haaland.
According to the Daily Star, Manchester City are likely to rip up Haaland's contract and give him a new one if he continues to score at this rate.
Haaland is already Manchester City's highest paid player, alongside Kevin De Bruyne, but after his'special' start to life in English football, he could be in line for a pay increase after just a few months.
Of course, that would be a setback for Real Madrid's hopes of signing him in the summer of 2024, because Manchester City will almost certainly look into it as well. Let's see where we go from here.
