The 6.6L Duramax turbocharged V8 diesel that is now available as an option and is mated to a 10-speed Allison transmission is the enhancement that most heavy-duty customers will be interested in. From 445 hp and 910 lb-ft, the engine now produces 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque, up from 445 hp and 910 lb-ft. GMC claims that the new engine has 25% more low-down grunt.
Towing capacities have increased as a result. In the 2500HD Crew Cab configuration (Long Bed 2WD), the GMC Sierra HD can tow up to 21,900 pounds, while in the 2500HD, it can tow up to 22,500 pounds. That's an increase of 4,000 pounds over the current model. When equipped with a gooseneck hitch and the V8 diesel engine, the 3500HD can tow up to 36,000 lbs.
The 6.6-liter naturally aspirated gas engine will continue to be standard equipment in the 2024 Sierra HD lineup, which includes 2500HD and 3500HD models in Regular Cab, Extended Cab, and Crew Cab configurations. The available 13.4-inch diagonal touchscreen interface, 15-inch head-up display, and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster add visual interest to the interior. The enormous infotainment screen is customizable and can display media and navigation on opposite sides. Google's built-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard features.
The front bumper, fascia, grille designs, and finishes on each trim are all revised as part of the exterior enhancements. There are six new exterior colors and new wheel designs. Titanium Rush Metallic, Sterling Metallic, Volcanic Red Tintcoat Metallic, Redwood Metallic, Meteorite Metallic, and Downpour Metallic are the brand-new options. It is said that the Denali Ultimate is the most sophisticated and luxurious pickup in its class. It has a model-specific grille, 20-inch ultra-bright machined aluminum wheels with high gloss black accents, and distinctive fender badging that depicts Mount Denali's topography as standard equipment. Additionally standard is a six-way Multipro tailgate with a Kicker sound system.
On the inside, it has open-pore Paldao wood, full-grain leather upholstery, speaker grilles made of etched stainless steel, 16-way power-adjustable, massaging front seats, a microsuede headliner, a power sunroof, and a Bose sound system with 12 speakers.
The updated 2024 GMC Sierra HD will be available at dealerships in the first quarter of 2023, and the AT4X will be available later in the same year. Pricing will be announced closer to the production beginning.
