Chief Imam and Distinsa President launch book on economy.

National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu and Professor Nana Oppong, President of Distinguished Scholars of Africa, a scholarly think-tank, advocate for a more comprehensive education that includes basic skills development in Islamic schools.

This, along with improved leadership and "knowing good, loving good, and doing good," are elements that Prof Oppong believes will lift African economies and improve their performance.

"We advocate skill development in every Makaranta School," Prof. Oppong said.

The proposals were part of a 14-page book titled "The Quranic Formula for World Economic Development," which was co-authored by the National Chief Imam and Prof Oppong and launched in Accra.

Prof. Oppong believes that communities should go beyond simply knowing what is good, and that you can test your knowledge by doing good.

Good, he said, must also be enjoyed, and he wondered why the good in some Moslem communities is known, but there is a lot of chaos and poverty in others.

Prof Oppong praised Ghana's National Chief Imam and Moslem Leadership for their efforts to improve the lives of both Muslims and people of other faiths.

The National Chief Imam offered prayers for Prof Oppong, the audience, and the book during the launch, which was attended by both co-authors.

The book, which will be freely distributed and available in PDF format, identifies the "Seven Cs" of a good economy as Creativity, Cooperation, Competition, Control, Consumption, and Continuity.

However, the book emphasizes that "knowledge" alone is insufficient to make a man economically productive.

And "having certificates in many subjects such as economics, management, finance, or simply having nice wishes" does not make an economy. It is also clear that, insofar as the 7cs describe the attributes and conditions required for the construction of the economy, no man or society can construct the right economy until he or she possesses the necessary qualities. To put it another way, a good economy is nothing more than the result of certain human conditions and actions. You must have the right conditions in place before you can start your good economy. You cannot have a good economy if you lack the necessary skills.

It also urged nations and communities to implement appropriate policies that are supported by appropriate and desired characteristics in their children.

The book advocates for leadership reforms and for nations to have leaders who "think not only of their bellies and families, but of the good Lord of what ultimate future every man has."

"This is Quranic support for economic development." It is based on the development of a good and learned person. The Quran wrote the formula for world economic development as a learned, highly skilled, and good-loving people pursuing their self-interests in a world governed by the rule of law, freedom, and justice! Peace!” the book recommended
