Level 100s On The Vacation STS Must Be Motivated - Edward Agbodami Cries Out
The Level 100s from many colleges of Education in Ghana are currently undergoing a 4 weeks Supported Teaching in Schools(STS) in various basic schools in their communities.
The programme which was scheduled by their various affiliated universities is set to help them equip skills and gain experience through familiarization, understanding the score of profession and thus making adequate pre-informed decision.
Edward Agbodami, a Level 100 of Akatsi College of Education after partaking in this programme came out with the decision that a token must be given to the students even as they embark on this journey.
Mr Agbodami started that even though many of the students are living or doing the STS around their homes, many of them depend on their family when it comes to feeding and some go to their field even with empty stomach thus when given a token they will be able to sustain as they are doing their STS.
He also indicated that, some students use this vacations given them as chance to labor around for money to help them their school fees but here lies the case they have been assigned to a curriculum based activities which equally is needed but generates no fund and please with the curriculum formulators to look at this aspect of implementation.
He bitterly expressed how they stay all concerned at work with loads of task. Also, printing and photocopies of Teaching and Learning Materials practically is done by them which is draining them at this infant stage of the student-teacher journey.
He pleaded with the management of other colleges to revisit the decision to engage students with STS during vacation stating that, until they support students with a token, STS should be a thing done while students are on campus.
