This year marks the Black Stars' fourth World Cup appearance, and they were placed in a group alongside Uruguay, South Korea, and Portugal, all of whom they had previously faced.
However, many Ghanaians are anticipating the match against Uruguay on December 2 because of the controversial way in which the Black Stars were ousted from the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
Luis Suárez's intentional handball cost Ghana a late win, and Asamoah Gyan missed the next penalty, leading to the Black Stars' 4-2 loss in the shootout and their first-ever World Cup quarterfinal exit.
"As a team captain, I don't think we should see this game as a kind of retaliation.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, he remarked, "Instead, we must be wise enough to see that it is a match we need points from.
"After all that has been stated in the media, we just want to defeat Uruguay. If you enter a game intending to exact revenge, you run the risk of making a lot of errors and becoming agitated as a player.
"We simply need to remain composed, stick to the strategy, and attempt to win the game, or do whatever we can to get to the next stage," the coach said.
Before facing Uruguay, Ghana will face Portugal and South Korea, and Ayew is certain that they will advance to the knockout round.
Ayew scored twice at his first World Cup in 2014, and he hopes to surpass this total in Qatar.
