Does Mbappe regret turning down Real Madrid?
He's not smiling, he's annoyed, and he's not performing like he did last season.
Kylian Mbappe hasn't seemed happy with PSG in the first few months of the season, and he's letting it be known with small gestures.
The French star, praised by fans when he announced his decision to stay at Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season, isn't reaping the benefits of his decision to reject Real Madrid. Neymar and Lionel Messi have risen to the occasion.
Mbappe has lost his place as PSG's star player, and he blames it on the position he's been asked to play under Christophe Galtier.
The most recent incident occurred last Saturday, when he posted a message on social media following his team's draw in Reims.
Despite the innocuous content ("draw, date Tuesday"), he accompanied it with the hashtag "pivot-gang."
Mbappe's actions once again highlighted his disdain for the No.9 position he plays in at PSG, which takes him away from the wing-backs, where he believes his power and speed make him more dangerous.
Mbappe's covert complaint
his veiled complaint is related to remarks he made a few weeks ago while with the french national team, in which he stated that didier deschamps allows him more freedom.
"things are asked of me differently here than at the club level. i have a lot of leeway here "mbappe stated.
"the coach is aware that there is a no.9, such as olivier [giroud], who is in charge of defense, and that i can look for spaces and ask for balls. that doesn't happen in paris; they ask me to play as a pivot; it's different "on september 22, mbappe stated.
After half an hour of play against Reims, Galtier called him to the wing, and after a lengthy exchange, the player went to the front of the attack while shaking his head.
The 2018 World Cup winner has already had to give up his preferred position on the left side of the attack to make room for Neymar, but he is no longer being played on the right.
According to L'Equipe, the club promised Mbappe that they would sign a quality 'No.9,' but that has not happened.
The preferred player was Robert Lewandowski of Poland, but the former Bayern Munich star preferred to join Barcelona.
PSG's transfer strategy director, Luis Campos, admitted that the club had fallen short of its goals.
"We promised (Mbappe) the world."
Injury crises
Mbappe is dissatisfied with his performance this season, which has been hampered by injuries that have caused him to miss several games at the start of the season.
