To win the battle for a star who has been impressing in the Champions League, Liverpool may have to renew transfer acquaintances with Real Madrid.
Napoli's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in action
According to compatriot Lasha Salukvadze, Liverpool are "following" Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after the Georgian attacker's impressive start to the season.
Kvaratskhelia, who arrived at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in an £8.6 million deal from Dynamo Batumi, has six goals and six assists in just 12 games across all competitions.
The 21-year-old has received particular praise for his contribution to Napoli's UEFA Champions League success, with Luciano Spalletti's side qualifying from Group A after only four matches. He shone as Jürgen Klopp's team was thrashed 4-1 in Naples.Such performances have not gone unnoticed, according to Salukvadze, who told Football News 24 that some of Europe's biggest clubs are keeping an eye on Kvaratskhelia.
"Kvaratskhelia had an incredible season at Napoli," Salukvadze said. "Ancelotti and Klopp are interested in him, and I believe he will join Liverpool or Real Madrid in the future."
"I also believe he can compete for top scorer in both Serie A and the Champions League this year."The news that Real Madrid may be interested will come as a surprise, as the Spaniards appear to be thwarting Klopp at every turn at the moment. They were introduced to Aurélien Tchouaméni in the summer and may complicate the Jude Bellingham investigation. However, Liverpool may be looking for attacking reinforcements after Luis Daz limped off just before halftime in the Reds' 3-2 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
However, Klopp admitted on Tuesday that the Colombian's injury could have had far-reaching consequences. "Lucho, what is it, six to eight [weeks] or whatever?" said the German boss. We'll see how long it lasts."Lucho appears to be a quick healer, but we must obviously be cautious." The way he moved after the game could have made things even worse."
Even with Daz likely to return from the World Cup, Kvaratskhelia appears to be a typical Liverpool signing. They signed Darwin Nez for a large fee after he impressed them in the Champions League, and they could do the same with the Napoli star.

Transfer Talk: Real Madrid lose interest in Mbappe, Haaland becomes priority
According to Sport, Real Madrid's interest in signing Kylian Mbappe has waned in favor of a move for Manchester City forward Erling Haaland.
The France international's future has been cast into doubt after ESPN reported that Mbappe wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain this winter, but with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti pleased with the progress of wingers Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo, the LaLiga champions are now set to prioritize a move for Haalan. The Santiago Bernabeu hierarchy is understood to prefer a No. 9 as a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema, with the key striker, who has been in recent contract talks, set to turn 35 in December. And, with PSG reportedly holding a €400 million clause to prevent Mbappe from moving to Spain's capital, president Florentino Perez appears to have shifted his focus to Haaland.
In the summer of 2024, the 22-year-old Norwegian international could be available to clubs outside of the Premier League for €200 million.
