Report from Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp asks for a £30 million proposal for "The Ghanaian Sadio Mané"
With a wonderkid who has been favorably likened to Reds great Sadio Mané, Liverpool is trying to revitalize a stale team.
Liverpool is prepared to submit a bid for a young sensation dubbed "the Ghanaian Sadio Mané" by some.
The Reds have had a difficult start to the season, only picking up victories in two of their first eight games. After losing to Arsenal last weekend, they struggled once more this past weekend. With a victory over Manchester City this Sunday, Jurgen Klopp's team might go 16 points ahead of their Merseyside rivals.
Many people think that Sadio Mané's departure to Bayern Munich during the summer has already been felt, but rumours now say that Klopp has approved a move to sign the next super-star African winger to replace Mané.
According to the Spanish news agency Nacional, the German manager has asked Liverpool's management to pursue Rennes forward Kamaldeen Sulemana.
Sulemana, who is only 20 years old, transferred from Nordsjaelland to Stade Rennais in Ligue 1 last year for €20 million. Following Mohammed Kudus' transfer to Ajax, the kid was given the No. 10 jersey while in Denmark. In the Champions League this year, Kudus already scored a goal against Liverpool, and Sulemana's departure became a major story.
The Ghanaian international can play right, left, or centrally across the front three and is a right-footed player like Mané. However, he prefers to occupy the left side of the room.
Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Mohamed Salah can fill the other two spots in Klopp's front three. Youngsters Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho can also play in attack. The Reds recently acquired Darwin Nunez, who will serve as the team's new No. 9.
Although Sulemana is still under the age of 21, there's a chance he might make his debut soon given Klopp's desire to play players like Elliott, Carvalho, and Curtis Jones from a young age.
Rennes is rumored to ask for approximately £30 million for the forward.
Sulemana is valued by Transfermarkt at about £16 million (opens in new tab).
Additional Liverpool news
Jude Bellingham is still being linked to a move to Liverpool, and a deal may now be more likely as a result of Bayern Munich's decision to pass on signing the Borussia Dortmund and England star. They are reportedly keeping an eye on Germany's top player Jamal Musiala, who plays for Bayern Munich.
The Reds are reportedly interested in an MLS wonderkid and a striker labeled "the next Erling Haaland," according to other transfer news.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp has implemented a fairly drastic tactical shift in an effort to get his ailing team clicking once more: may Liverpool's future lie in the 4-4-2 formation?
