Is Microsoft Changing The Microsoft Office After Three(3) Decades?
Microsoft Office is making amendments. Sort of.
The real product will not change but will stay the same. So do not worry – Word, Powerpoint, Excel and the rest are not going to be removed from the new office.
But it will not be called Microsoft Office any longer. Instead, the tech giant has made announcement that it is rebranding to Microsoft 365.
Over the coming few months, Office.com, the Office mobile platform, and Microsoft’s Office app for Windows will now adopt new branding and icons.
Although the functionality of the apps will still be the same, there will be one huge variation: the price.
Microsoft 365 is said to be a monthly subscription service while Microsoft Office is a one-time purchase.
At the moment, those who are already subscribed to Microsoft 365 get all the recent updates as part of the package. If you have bought Microsoft Office, you have to purchase a new version when you want an upgrade.
Surprisingly, Microsoft Office was first released all the way back in 1990 – and has since stayed pretty consistent then.
If you actually do not want to spend over more cash each month for yet another subscription, then Microsoft will still let you make a one-time purchase of the individual Office apps such as Word or Outlook.
‘Microsoft is releasing a new Microsoft 365 app for web, Windows and mobile, the home for the favorite tools and content across Microsoft 365 for commercial and consumer users,’ the company said to have said.
‘The app, which is an evolution of the work started with the Office app, manifests the value of Microsoft 365, all in one place. It not only makes it easy and simple to get started, but it also makes use of the intelligence generated from within the Microsoft 365 solution in a way that makes work easier.’
