In the absence of Luis Diaz, Jota started on the left side of a front three against City. During the match, he had two good chances with his head, but neither of them led to goals.

In the 56th minute, these chances were at their best. After City failed to stop a Liverpool attack, Mo Salah converted the opportunity by setting Jota free at the back post. The Portuguese ascended to meet it, but his shot was only slightly off target.

Jota was fortunate because Salah came on 20 minutes later and scored a great counterattacking goal that won the game.

Jota played 99 minutes, but a challenge forced him to leave during injury time. As Liverpool won the game, Kostas Tsimikas, a left back, took his place.

Klopp was asked about the 25-year-old during a Sky Sports interview after the game (via the Daily Mirror). The manager is concerned about Jota's injury, but it actually appears to be good news. This is because he may only miss Wednesday's match against West Ham.

Klopp disclosed, "We miss the next one with Diogo." He was in severe pain at the time, but I was unaware of how severe it was.

"It will not be good if Diogo stays down. I was the first person to see it because I saw it on the side of the screen.

Jurgen Klopp describes Diogo Jota's injury as "not good." "When I saw he went down and there was not a lot of contact, you can see a little bit that somebody kicked his foot and maybe the muscle got too stretched, 96 minutes, that's not good for the muscle," Klopp said.

Another injury setback will be extremely frustrating for Jota. He already had to overcome a problem with his hamstring, which kept him out of the first five Premier League games of the season.

And when West Ham travel to Anfield later this week, he will have to watch from the sidelines once more. Despite this, the injury is not as severe as initially feared.

Jota is expected to return in time, according to Klopp, to play Nottingham Forest on Saturday at 12:30. Given that Darwin Nunez doesn't appear to be an £85 million player and that Diaz is already out, Klopp will need to have him available.

Nunez came on for Roberto Firmino in the 72nd minute and was hoping to make his mark on the game by scoring a second Liverpool goal. Klopp needs Jota to return quickly.

He beat City on the counter twice, but he didn't play his teammates into easy goals. He should have given Salah the ball the first time. He decided to shoot from outside the box instead. The city's defense was able to prevent it.

Nunez then rushed toward the goal in extra time, but his pass was too long. Fabio Carvalho was completely ignored by him. Trent Alexander-Arnold was eventually found by Nunez at the back post, but the right-back couldn't hit the target with his effort because Nunez passed with too much power.

If Diaz and Jota are unable to play for West Ham, Klopp may have to start Nunez. Jota, on the other hand, is very likely to start against Forest if he is close to being fully fit.
