Chelsea is 'interested in a sensational Cristiano Ronaldo transfer,' with Manchester United star Erik ten Hag firing him amid a huge rift.

According to reports, Chelsea are interested in signing Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo following his spat with manager Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo, 37, refused to play against Tottenham on Wednesday, storming down the tunnel with injury time remaining.

As a result, United manager Ten Hag left the five-time Ballon d'Or winner out of the squad for Saturday's 1-1 draw at Chelsea and assigned him to train alone at Carrington.

The star forward's future with the Red Devils has become uncertain, with reports claiming that the club is willing to let him leave for free in January if no offers come in.

According to the Sunday World, Chelsea are considering a January transfer for the Portugal international.

The Blues were among several clubs contacted by the 37-year-representatives old's after he decided to leave United last summer.

Todd Boehly, the West Londoners' new owner, was keen to bring the Portuguese superstar to Stamford Bridge, but former manager Thomas Tuchel turned down a potential deal.

But now that Tuchel has left, Boehly is eager to renew his interest and consider a swoop in the New Year.

Chelsea appear to be interested in a short-term deal that would keep Ronaldo at the club until the end of the season, with the option to extend into a second season.
