What is goodness? Is it helping people out when in trouble? Is it making the best of your time to do charitable acts and deeds? Or is it giving alms to the poor? Is it making great impact and putting a smile on people's face. Well goodness is anything that you can point out to have a meaningful, positive and productive impact in not only in other people's live but also in your own life and finally doing everything to attain the pleasure of your creator.
To do things to attain God's pleasure means basically doing everything in line with the ruling and commandments in the Glorious books. Regardless of your religion, every belief creed preaches goodness to one's neighbors just as you'll do to yourself. In this adage that says, “ do unto others what you want them to do unto you”. Doing goodness to others in whatever form is very vital in the sense that on the long run it later comes back to you. Believe it or not there's always a balance in everything in life as nature places it. Doing good deeds and acts to someone is balanced with another person doing something good for you. The same goes for doing something bad too.
Merits of doing goodness to one another :- part of the merit of doing good deeds includes:-
— Brining the sense of belonging among one another in the community, town, state and country at large.
— It brings about the sense of fulfilment and joy in seeing a smile on other people's face.
— It makes other to be so interested in doing good deeds too.
— It fosters cooperation and togetherness among people irrespective of class, colour or race.
— It gives us the privilege to know each other better.
Demerits of not doing goodness:-

It breeds malice among people
There will be lack of cooperation and close interaction among people.
It make one feel left out and viewing the world as a lonely and wicked place to live.
It doesn't fosters love and togetherness while in the long run inhibit development of the society.
Ways of doing goodness:-
— Assist people when you're being requested to do so.
— Giving alms to the poor and showing affection for them.
— Treating everyone with accord and respect.
— Obey the word of God and shun bad companies.
These are some of the merits, demerits and ways of doing good deeds and acts. Good deeds has begining with just small insignificant things that we pay little or no attention to but it goes a long way in changing people's lives.
