Ghana Black Stars Coach Otto Addo has picked his favourite teammates during his time with the national team.
Daniel Otto Addo, former Black Stars player and current coach of the Ghana Black Stars has outlined his favourite teammates at the national team during his time. Otto Addo made fifteen appearances for the Black Stars in all competitions from 1999 to 2006, netting two goals.
The 47-year-old while with the national team built a good bond with the likes of Chelsea legend Michael Essien and Africa's top goal scorer at the World Cup Asamoah Gyan, describing the two as his best teammates.
Otto Addo is set to lead the senior national team of Ghana to the 2022 FIFA World cup in Qatar, which makes him the first person to coach and play at the World cup with the national team.
Speaking on TV3's countdown to Qatar show, Otto Addo named Michael Essien and Asamoah Gyan as his favourite teammates.
"Michael Essien or Asamoah Gyan, one of the two. Essien was maybe more international, outside Ghana, he had a big name".
"He had a huge impact on European football and Asamoah Gyan had a big impact in the national team, especially with a lot of goals, I think what he did for Ghana is legendary," he concluded.
While Otto Addo only played in only the 2006 World cup for the Black Stars, Essien and Gyan had extended careers with the national team, with Gyan making hundred and nine appearances and scoring fifty-one goals.
The German-born Ghanaian coach Otto Addo according to reports will release his final squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup after the team's last friendly game against Switzerland early next month before the tournament commences. His side has been paired against Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal in Group H.
