"Those calling for the dismissal of Ken Ofori-Atta are doing so because of hatred and jealousy" - Michael Okyere Baafi, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and Member of Parliament for New Juaben North.

Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and Member of Parliament for the New Juaben North Constituency in the Eastern Region, Michael Okyere Baafi has descended heavily on persons calling for the the dismissal of the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

Calls for the dismissal or resignation of the Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta have intensified following what can be best described as an economic meltdown in Ghana. World rating agencies have described Ghana's economy as the worst in over three decades.

Some sections of  the Ghanaian populace have since May this year called for the dismissal of Ken Ofori-Atta but President Akufo-Addo has declined that call, applauding the minister for his supervision of the Ghanaian economy.

Speaking at the back of the recent call by 80 members of the majority caucus for the dismissal or resignation of Ken Ofori-Atta, the former chief executive officer of the Freezones Board said the calls for the dismissal of the Finance minister are demonic and borne out of hatred and jealousy.

President Akufo-Addo in response to the ultimatum issued by the majority group on the dismissal of Ken Ofori-Atta requested that the Minister should be allowed to conclude International Monetary Fund negotiations and the Budget 2023 preparations.

However,  the minority in Parliament has also filed a motion to censure the Finance minister which has been accepted by the Speaker of Parliament. The process according to proceedings is expected to commence on the 10th of November.

The 2023 budget statement is expected to be read before the 16th November as directed by the laws of the state. Ken Ofori-Atta is still in the United States of America negotiating a deal with the IMF.
