Pundit tips "special" midfielder to choose Man City over Liverpool
According to former England international Gabriel Agbonlahor, Borussia Dortmund superstar Jude Bellingham will choose Manchester City over Liverpool.
The 19-year-old has already established himself as one of the world's most dominant midfielders, and he is reportedly admired by a number of Europe's best.
According to the Athletic, Liverpool has made Bellingham their top transfer target heading into the new year.
However, Agbonlahor believes that the England international will prefer to play for Manchester City under Pep Guardiola rather than join the Reds."Don't you think City will be like, 'We'll have him,'" Agbonlahor said on Talksport.
"Isn't he going to pick City over Liverpool?"
Bellingham is a complete midfielder, tenacious and disciplined off the ball, creative and expressive on it, and he's added goals to his game this season.
The Birmingham-born midfielder has already scored eight goals this season and has captained Dortmund on several occasions. Before Manchester City's Champions League match against Dortmund on Tuesday, Guardiola admitted he is one of Bellingham's many admirers.
According to the city manager: "Everyone is aware of the quality. The entire package is excellent.
"He was 17 when he arrived [at Dortmund], but it wasn't just about his ability; it was also about how he led, his kicking, and going to the referee.
"In terms of mentality, this guy was something special. He is now 19 years old and one of the captains."Despite the fact that Bellingham's contract does not expire until June 2025, Dortmund is reportedly looking to offer him a better deal in the coming months.
Guardiola went on to say that the German club was the ideal environment for the midfielder to develop his game.
He stated: "Borussia Dortmund, in my opinion, is the ideal destination for young talent.
"If Jude Bellingham was in England, he could have gone to City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, or Tottenham, but he might not have gotten the minutes.
"Playing minutes is the best way for a young player to improve."
