By Vivian Adu - October 27, 2022 Sachet water The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) has announced yet another upward revision to the prices of sachet and bottled water, which will take effect on Monday, October 31. Atinka websitelogo Home Business Business

The Association states that retail trucks will sell a 500ml bag of sachet water at a maximum price of Gh¢10.

On the other hand, depending on where the shop is located, mini shops will sell the product for between 12 and 15 per bag.

The 500 ml bottle of water will cost Gh¢2.50 , while the iced sachet water will cost Gh¢0.60 .

The retail price for iced bottle water in 1.5L and 750ml sizes will be Gh¢3.50 and Gh¢5.00, respectively.

In a statement released on Thursday, October 27, NASPAWAP attributed the price adjustments to the rise in fuel prices and the depreciation of the Turkish lira.

Press Release Regarding a Price Review of Sachet and Packaged Water The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) issued a bereaved statement regarding the packaged water industry last week. The statement was prompted by the ongoing rise in input costs brought on by the free fall of the Ghana Cedi against the major currencies of the world. The Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Association (GPMA) announced new prices for plastic films and preforms used in sachet and bottled water packaging shortly after our press release.A ton of sachet film was increased by 44% on October 24, 2022, from GH25,000.00 to GH36,000.00, the same as on performances.

As of Wednesday, October 26, the price of diesel fuel at the pumps is approximately GHc20.00 per liter. This indicates that producers' working capital had decreased by approximately 45 percent within seven days of the NEC's distress call to the government. As a consequence of this, the majority of producers of packaged water are presently unable to purchase materials at the levels anticipated, and others are not operating because they cannot afford the losses of 45 percent on their working capital.

On October 26, 2022, an emergency stakeholder engagement was called to review the impact of the ongoing increases in fuel slf films preforms and vehicle spare parts, taking into account the need to maintain the production of high-quality packaged water for the public. This was done in light of the urgency of the situation.

Therefore, the following price comparisons of bottled and sachet water are recommended by the National Executive Committee of the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP).All regional associations can use these reviews as a guide to ensure uniformity across the nation. The NEC also warns that haulage to far-off areas and other overheads may cause slight variations among towns and regions.

It is suggested that iced bottled water in sizes 500 milliliters and larger be sold for GH2.50, 750 milliliters or larger for GH3.50, and 1.5 liters for GH5.00. Additionally, 60 pesewas should be charged for iced sachet water.

The retail trucks will now charge GH¢ 10.00 for a bag of 30 sachets of water (500 milliliters) at the ex-truck price. It is quite important that the retail cost of a sack of sachet water and packs of filtered water from scaled down shops not entirely settled by their retail affiliations, utilizing different determinants like lease and overheads that feeds into the last retail cost. However, depending on the shop's location, customers on the open market might expect to pay between Gh¢12 and Gh¢ 15 for a bag of sachet water.

The aforementioned changes take effect on October 31, 2022.

We understand how difficult it is for our customers to keep up with these price changes. However, we cannot compromise on the final product's quality, so we ask customers to be patient while we wait for the government to act on our request to lower some taxes on the packaged water industry.

I appreciate it, Director of corporate affairs.
