After missing over a month due to a hamstring injury, Wilfred Ndidi has been seen back on the Leicester training fields. Although the Nigerian defensive midfielder won't play today, Leicester supporters will be encouraged by his return to full health. Ryan Bertrand and Ricardo Pereira

Jonny Evans might play for Leicester while remain out. Although the center defender has been battling a calf issue, an evaluation was scheduled before the game.

Erling Haaland, who was replaced at halftime of Manchester City's goalless draw with Borussia Dortmund in midweek, was also scheduled to be evaluated yesterday. When tackled by Emre Can, Haaland looked to sustain a foot injury and was also said to be feverish.

While Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips are still out recovering from surgery, they are both expected to be available for World Cup selection. City goalkeeper Ederson, who missed the match against Dortmund, is expected to make a return.

“They have optimism, Pep Guardiola stated. They have communication with Gareth Southgate. Hopefully they will be capable of being chosen.

Football league: At the King Power Stadium this afternoon, the first of the weekend's 10 top-flight games pits Leicester against the defending champions in a story of two Citys. The hosts are finally showing signs of life after a terrible start to the season and enter this incredibly difficult test of their mettle on the strength of two victories and their third straight clean sheet.

They have scored an astounding six goals in their last two games from just five shots on goal, displaying remarkable efficiency in front of goal.

City are in a relative slump by their own incredibly high standards, having won only one of their last four matches both domestically and in Europe, while also going scoreless in three of those contests. They remain second in the standings, two points behind Arsenal, and have already qualified for the Champions League knockout rounds, so it's probably just a temporary blip. At the King Power, the game begins at 12.30 p.m. (BST), but in the interim, we'll have team updates and build-up.
