Over 450 stranded Ghanaians have been repatriated by the UAE.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, over 450 Ghanaians who were stranded in the United Arab Emirates were successfully repatriated in August of this year.
According to a citinewsonline report, the stranded individuals were misled by unscrupulous agents who promised non-existent jobs in Dubai and other parts of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the report, the ministry stated that some organizations and public-spirited individuals supported the repatriation.
Eighty (80) of our countrymen were evacuated with the help of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity establishment in Dubai between October 24' and October 27' 2022 via Ethiopian Airlines. Furthermore, 20 Ghanaians were evacuated on board Egypt Air in September 2022 with the assistance of an individual and friend of the Government of Ghana, Mr. Abdul Razaak-Daheer," citifmonline quoted the ministry as saying.
The ministry maintains that the ban on direct recruitment of Ghanaian labor migrants remains in effect." The Ministry would like to remind everyone that the ban on direct-to-home recruitment of Ghanaian labor migrants (housekeepers) to homes in the Gulf states remains in effect until further notice. The ban, however, has no bearing on the lawful recruitment of skilled workers (non-domestic house helpers) to the Gulf States.
The ministry advises Ghanaians traveling abroad to avoid taking illegal routes to various parts of the world, as this almost always ends in disaster."

In an interview with GhanaWeb, Dr. Otokunor stated that the people of Ghana require liberation from the Akufo-Addo administration, which he claims will be the NDC's message for the 2024 elections.
"It (our message to Ghanaians) will be a liberation struggle." Because, as you know, the people of this country are subject to some form of slavery. Under President Akufo-Addo, we are experiencing yet another form of colonisation.
“And you know [the] battle against imperialist tendency, battle against colonisation, battle against some form of slavery is no joke,” he told GhanaWeb’s Nimatu Yakubu.
The NDC deputy general secretary explained that Ghana was going through some form of slavery because of the untoward hardship Ghanaians are going through.
“Have you ever seen the currency depreciate in one week from 11 to 15 (against the dollar)? In five days, every day you will go to bed and wake up with a new horizon on your currency depreciation. Have you seen the kind of deterioration such that we cannot even go to the international market to borrow even a dollar?” he queried.
Dr. Otokunor also said that Ghana’s economy is so devastated that if care is not taken, the government might not be able to pay the salaries of public sector workers soon.
Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, who has stated his intention to run for the general secretary position of the party, said that the country will not survive under another NPP government.
He added that the NDC needs his qualities in the general secretary position to win the 2024 election which is why he will win the race for the position in the party’s December 17, 2022, national executive elections.
