'Free Joao Felix' - Man United transfer plea made after Atletico Madrid's Champions League exit

After Atletico Madrid finished bottom of their Champions League group on Tuesday night, Manchester United fans made a passionate transfer plea for their club to sign Joao Felix.

Diego Simeone's side were eliminated from Europe after a 2-1 defeat to Porto. The La Liga club finished last in their group, trailing Bayer Leverkusen, Club Brugge, and their Portuguese opponents, who won the overall group.Atletico will not even advance to the next round of Europa League matches due to their fourth-place finish. Their exit from the Bundesliga was already confirmed last week, when they drew against Leverkusen to prevent them from finishing in the top two, after missing an injury-time penalty awarded after the full-time whistle.

In that game, Felix appeared to want to take the penalty himself, but was called out by Yannick Carrasco, who went on to miss. Following Tuesday night's disappointing result, the Portuguese international is now out of both the Champions League and the Europa League for the rest of the season.United have been linked with a move for the attacking midfielder, who is reportedly dissatisfied with his lack of playing time under Simeone in Madrid. Erik ten Hag's team was thought to be interested in providing Felix with a way out, but a potential stumbling block over an inflated price tag of more than €100 million could derail any potential deal.

However, with Atletico Madrid's exit from Europe this season, the door may have opened slightly for any club interested in Felix's services. United fans certainly thought so, as they took to social media to urge their club to sign the 22-year-old.
