Author Biography
James lives in northern California, but has lived in several western states and in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for six fantastic years. He has two wonderful children who keep him busy and on his toes. He has held a variety of jobs for a variety of corporations. From project management to customer care to installation technician for AT&T, to name a few. He's been a fan of zombies since he saw George Romero's original Night of the Living Dead! When he isn't writing, James may be found listening to books on tape, reading, and doing research for his next adventure in the physical world. He enjoys meeting fans in person or over social media. — The paperback edition is referred to in this paragraph. This was a nice zompoc story about Dan, a middle manager who goes to work one day in a high rise office building in San Francisco. He soon finds himself fighting zombies for his life. The first section of the novel is recounted as a narrative from Dan when he is being questioned by the SFPD. Of course, that makes sense when you're one of two survivors in a building full of corpses!Brian, the sole other survivor, is a bruiser who follows Dan's example in fighting the undead. Dan and Brian are approved as members of the SFPD Swat Team in the second half of the novel. Brian's military experience makes him a suitable fit, but Dan feels out of place. This gang chooses to travel north in search of Dan's girlfriend, then to his father's retreat.
The narrator did a nice job overall, however he was a tad monotonous at points. Also, there was no break between chapters, making it difficult to stop the audio at the end of a chapter. I'll probably keep reading this series just to see what happens and because I appreciate novels in the zompoc genre. The author/narrator/publisher offered me the opportunity to listen to this book and opted to review it.
