This series is a huge hit with my elementary school students. It's fantastic that there's now a chapter book to go along with the graphic novel series. I'm also looking forward to the film's release next week. I would strongly suggest this amusing and innovative series to any youngsters who are hesitant readers or who simply appreciate hilarious books with amusing characters.I'm looking forward to reading this with my students while we compare and contrast the film version. Fans of the original should be aware that this is entirely a novel, as opposed to the originals' graphic novel approach. Excellent for a read-aloud, though perhaps not as fascinating for younger readers.
First and foremost, my 6- and 8-year-old grandkids liked it (although they've never met a book they didn't like). I believe that the novelization of the film demonstrates that the film has no link to the book series and, as a result, destroys most of what is charming about the characters. For those of us who have read the Bad Guys series, the movie, as well as the novelization, will be a letdown.
Daughter carries this book everywhere... thankfully, it sold out at the school book fair.
My ten-year-old son adored this book! It kept him interested despite the fact that he does not enjoy reading!
It's rather long, and we're only halfway through, but my kid like it so far, and it well summarizes the film.
He could read it on his own and thoroughly loved it.
