PLAYER RATINGS: VIKTORIA PLZEN 2-4 BARCELONA
Inaki Pena (9)
Inaki Pena was called into action numerous times and did well to keep Plzen out multiple times as they attempted more attempts on aim than Barcelona. A special mention should be made of his save against Erik Jirka in the 80th minute.
Hector Bellerin (7)
made a few good chances, including one with a penetrating run from the middle of the field. Unexpectedly easy to invert both with and without the ball.
Gerard Pique(6)
Had many difficulties coping with 6' 6" Chory; only Pena could save him.
Marcos Alonso (6.5)
Had the same defensive issues as Pique, but the goal and a last-man interception surely help him. a never-was striker.
Jordi Alba (8)
Jordi Alba has constantly performed admirably in every game he plays, and today was no exception as he gave his teammates a few great chances. He was one of the better players tonight before being replaced.
Gavi (6.5)
remained calm while under duress while in possession, although Barcelona's counter attacks were slowed down by his excessive bail retention. Of course, he was also acting rashly off-the-cuff.
Franck Kessie (7.5)
In particular, Kessie did a terrific job tonight replicating Busquets' quick-release passes and press resistance. But it was unfortunate that he tore his hamstring midway through the second half.
Pablo Torre (7)
With his excellent scanning and one-two passing tonight, Torre had a fairly strong midfield showing. Sadly, Barcelona was awarded a penalty, but United grabbed one back with a well-taken goal in the 76th.
Raphael (8)
Raphinha, who was positioned in his natural position, generated a lot of danger throughout the game and contributed to nearly all of Barcelona's goals. Found Ferran with a great assist for the third goal, aided Jordi Alba with a beautiful chip in the second goal, and then found Torre with a lobbed through ball for his second assist. Should be on the field a lot more frequently.
Ansu Fati (4)
Unexpectedly, Fati failed to take advantage of two opportunities that were pretty simple. He was fortunate that Alonso converted the first one since he was in the right spot at the right moment.
Ferran Torres (7.5)
Slowly but gradually, Ferran Torres is regaining his confidence. With exquisite technique and timing, the Spaniard scored twice tonight. Despite being slightly unlucky on both finishes, a brace was more than due.
SUBSTITUTES
Alejandro Balde (6.5)
Made a few outstanding recovery runs, but today's offensive efforts are not attributable to me.
Marc Casado (6)
In possession, Tidy did well to take Kessie's spot as the 6.
Alvaro Sanz (6)
Finished all 100 of his passes in the roughly 15 minutes that he had.
Ousmane Dembele: N/A
Came on too late to warrant a rating.
