The country's finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta, has assured Ghanaians that he is still the finest candidate to revive the economy of the nation despite the current financial crisis.

The majority of parliamentarians and Ghanaians have asked Ken Ofori-Atta to resign as finance minister, but it appears that Ken Ofori Atta is not listening to their calls.

At a meeting with the Association of Ghana Industries, Ken Ofori Atta said that calls for his dismissal are unimportant and urged Ghanaians to support their administration in its efforts to find a solution to the country's current economic problem.

“Let me assure you that you have a Finance Minister who has gone through all the pains and the aches, and nobody can really say we don’t understand what we are doing. The question is what resources do we have and how are we going to deploy them in the nation that we have and how do we stand firm in very difficult circumstances but be very confident?

“Let me assure you all that your best bet is still Ghana; we can do it, and we should do it,” Ofori-Atta said.

The price of products and services in the nation has increased as a result of the cedi's depreciation against the dollar. The depreciation of the cedi has impacted the price of petroleum, which has driven up the cost of transportation and made it difficult for Ghanaians to survive.

Indeed these are hard times and prices of goods and services continue to go up astronomically daily. Traders now do futuristic pricing because they are so much uncertain of what happens the next minute. But all this is to the detriment of the ordinary Ghanaian consumer whose income remains fairly constant but expenditure doubles daily. The Finance Minister still thinks he is the best person to manage this mess he has caused.
