For many weeks, fans, players, former players, football pundits, and viewers have complained about the timing of the 2022 World Cup. Remember that the World Cup was moved to November/December for several reasons.

However, moving the World Cup in the middle of a football season appears to be a bad idea, as many players have been injured. Timo Werner is the most recent player to be ruled out of the Qatar World Cup due to injury. As a result, this article will focus on a starting lineup of injured players ahead of the World Cup, as Timo Werner is expected to miss the tournament. Take a look!

1. goalkeeper

Mike Maignan is currently injured and may miss the 2022 World Cup. As things stand, Make Maignan's participation in the World Cup is in doubt.

2. defender

Ben Chilwell

Recce James, Raphael Varane, Ronald Araujo, and Ben Chilwell are all major doubts for the 2022 World Cup. Even if these players recover from their injuries, their fitness level may be a concern as the World Cup begins in less than three weeks.

3. Midfielders

Paul Pogba

Georginio Wijnaldum of Roma is out of the tournament. Injuries have also forced Paul Pogba and N'golo Kante to withdraw from the tournament.

4. Attackers

Timo Werner

Diogo Jota will miss the World Cup after suffering an injury in Liverpool. In addition, Timo Werner was replaced on UCL matchday 6, and he will miss the rest of the season due to injury. Finally, Son is expected to undergo surgery after suffering an injury during Tottenham's matchday 6 UCL game, making him a doubt for the 2022 World Cup.

Pep Guardiola insists Liverpool and Newcastle will challenge Man City for Premier League title

Pep Guardiola believes Liverpool's squad familiarity and Newcastle's lack of European competition make both clubs genuine Premier League title contenders this season.

Manchester City are second in the Premier League, two points behind Arsenal, who play Chelsea this weekend. Tottenham are three points behind the Blues, while Newcastle are two points back in fourth place. Manchester United and Chelsea round out the top six, with Liverpool falling to ninth after two losses in three games following their win over City at Anfield three weeks ago.Guardiola also stated that with all teams having played 12 or 13 times, there are currently seven sides that can compete for the title, including surprise package Newcastle and struggling Liverpool.

"I would say Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, and Liverpool," Guardiola said. "I believe these teams can compete for the championship."Guardiola explained his Liverpool selection: "They have the same manager and squad that have previously achieved 17 and 18 victories in a row - why can't they do it again? Nobody knows what will happen after the World Cup; there will be a transfer window, and players will return. This is how I feel.

"Arsenal is currently the first candidate. Why? Because they are the best in the league and the others are close. So let's see how we finish these next two games [before the World Cup], but I believe many of these teams deserve to be there, based on how they play all of them, and how teams like Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur have taken a step forward. When asked why Newcastle can be title contenders despite being seven points behind the leaders and having played one more game, Guardiola cited one specific advantage they have over the other contenders he mentioned.

"They have incredible physicality to the way they play, and they're only playing one game a week; they're not playing in Europe, and when that happens, it's a big advantage when you arrive in the last months with energy," Guardiola said.

"They have a lot of energy, and imagine how they'll be after a week." They have a good manager, top-class players, experienced players, physicality in the middle, box-to-box transitions, the way they create intensity without the ball is impressive, the press is high, and they go with it.
