Rico is aware of how crucial it will be for Real Sociedad to defeat Man United.
In his career, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 14 goals against Real Sociedad but never in the Spanish club's stadium. Former Bournemouth defender Diego Rico intends to continue the streak tonight.
Real Sociedad will win the group and advance directly to the round of 16, and the visit of Manchester United is being hailed as the biggest European match in the club's recent history.
Rico responds when told that it is no longer as easy to mark the 37-year-old Ronaldo, "I think he's the same Ronaldo as always."
‘He can score a goal against you from any
any cross or shot from any direction. We need to pay close attention to him and all of their players.
The last time Real Sociedad played United in Europe was in February 2021, a few weeks before the pandemic restrictions on flights from England to Spain were eased.
Real Sociedad's "home" leg was won by United 4-0 in Turin behind closed doors.
That summer, Rico joined "La Real," and he has been a key factor in Imanol Alguacil's ability to toughen up his club.
They continue to play beautiful football, but they are no longer frequently bullied, as evidenced by their perfect record in the Europa League this year.
Rico's move to England under Eddie Howe at Bournemouth didn't go as planned, so when the opportunity to join Real Sociedad presented itself, he wasn't going to pass it up.
He praises Howe, saying, "I'm glad for the opportunity and the counsel he gave me."
"He gave me my Premier League debut; I would have preferred to play more, but you have to respect the coach's decisions," I said. And with Newcastle, he is currently demonstrating his abilities.
Javier was perhaps the happiest person when Rico returned.
Diego reveals that he has two syndromes that affect him. He was born with his spinal column misaligned, and doctors predicted that he would spend the rest of his life in a vegetative state. But he resisted, and thanks to a variety of therapies, a lot of swimming, and a lot of effort, his spine has been rectified.
Nothing is more valuable than witnessing my brother's current condition after being told he would have to spend the rest of his life in bed.
Tonight, Javier will be in the Reale Arena and he'll be looking for a picture or two after the match. Diego claims, "He attends every one of my games." And following the competitions, he stays to request pictures.
Nothing will change tonight. When asked which player's shirt he would choose to wear at the conclusion of the game, Rico responded, "De Gea, Casemiro, Rashford, or Ronaldo." There are all elite athletes, but I'll switch with any United player for my brother regardless.
Has Javier made a particular request? Let's see whether he gets De Gea or Ronaldo; I'm sure he would want one of those.
On the field, Anthony and any 360-degree turns he chooses to use may prove to be a greater threat to left-back Rico.
Regarding the debate, he asserts that every player should be free to act anyway they like on the field as long as they do not harm an opponent.
No matter how harsh the criticism, it is the way he plays and he won't change. It's even more harmless if the pass comes out after it.
Another example of how Real Sociedad are being predicted in Spain to become the new third force behind the big two will be if they defeat Ronaldo and Anthony tonight and take first place in the group.
Let's first win this game, he says. "We have yet to do anything,"
He emphasizes the significance of winning first place by saying, "It's not just that finishing second means you have to play a team that has been eliminated from the Champions League; it also means you have to play two more games with the amount of work we have to do."
