We used simulation to forecast the outcome of the Premier League match between Man City and Fulham.
When Manchester City hosts Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday, they will be attempting to maintain their perfect home record this season.
In their most recent Premier League match, City defeated Leicester 1-0 thanks to a superb Kevin De Bruyne free-kick, maintaining Pep Guardiola's team in second place behind Arsenal. A victory for City might put them ahead of Arsenal and into the top spot this weekend, when the Gunners play Chelsea.
Prior to their match against Fulham, City also won their Champions League group, providing the ideal momentum for the match. With 12 straight victories over the London club, City has a strong record against the Cottagers.
Erling Haaland may play against Fulham after missing the previous two contests due to injury, but Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips are both confirmed to be absent.
Using FIFA 23, we updated the lineups with the most recent suspensions and injuries to finish this simulation.
Within three minutes, Kevin De Bruyne gave City the lead by converting Haaland's layoff into the far corner of the goal. City kept up the pressure, and a little while later, De Bruyne scored City's second goal of the contest.
De Bruyne received a free kick in the middle of the field after being hauled down outside of the penalty area. The Belgian made an amazing effort despite being far from the goal, swerving past the goalkeeper and into the top corner of the net.
Haaland intercepted a weak ball, went around the goalkeeper to make it 3-0, and Fulham was unable to regain control of the game. The striker scored his second goal and City's fourth goal right before halftime, demonstrating the significant effect his return to the team was having on the game.
Jack Grealish skillfully flicked the ball back down the line for Joao Cancelo to race onto after cutting inside. Haaland was spotted in the centre of the box by the defender who had just entered it, and he stroked his shot across goal and into the far corner for 4-0.
Just after the break, the visitors' in-form striker Aleksandar Mitrovic scored by outmuscling Ruben Dias to score.
With 15 minutes left, Nathan Ake increased the score to 5-1.
Ake was at the near post as De Bruyne swiftly whipped in a corner; the defender quickly flicked the cross across goal, bouncing past the goalkeeper.
In the waning moments of the game, Mitrovic added a second goal for Fulham when he curled a shot past Ederson from a distance. However, it was only a consolation goal as City went on to win 5-2.
