Graham Potter feels that a manager needs time and points to Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola as examples.

The success of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola,

according to Graham Potter, is evidence that successful Premier League managers require time.

Both had sluggish starts at their respective clubs, with Klopp finishing eighth in his debut season at Liverpool and Guardiola leading Manchester City to an unimpressive third-place finish.

Potter, the head coach of Chelsea, had a successful start to his tenure at the club after being hired in September, but he suffered a major blow this weekend when he saw his team humiliated 4-1 against his old club Brighton.

Potter maintains that both of his Premier League-winning opponent managers have demonstrated that it takes time to assemble a strong club, but his team will take on high-flying Arsenal on Sunday.

If you consider Pep's first year, consider how long Jurgen took. Even if these folks are the best of the best, Potter added, "they don't just stroll in, click their fingers, and everything's wonderful."

"You guys (the media), it's your duty to generate the pressure, the noise, and the story, and sometimes we don't do well enough so it's deserved," the speaker said.

'People believe that it will just happen for you, which is fantastic. What level does that occur at? It's highly risky to spread this message, yet it is what it is. If I recall well, Alex Ferguson took his time and did fairly well.

Pep is brilliant, and he didn't just enter and declare that "everything is OK." Jurgen took a while. The proof is available. I have no control over whether or not people choose to utilize another narrative.

"The squad I joined at Brighton wasn't the team I left there," he said. It expanded and changed. Sometimes you make mistakes, but you have to get back up and accept the criticism since everyone is smart in the end.

Despite an ownership change earlier this year, Chelsea has a history of often changing managers, and after a dismal start to the season, Thomas Tuchel was let go.

In order to attain long-term success, Potter also realized that there must be successful outcomes in the short term.

According to Potter, "It's a process that involves a period of agony and suffering, but obviously you need outcomes along the way because they assist you persuade others you're on the right track."

As I've previously stated, a coach must comprehend the short-, medium-, and long-term. You run the risk of getting into problems if you only think on the medium and long term.

You want to try to create something, but you also have to recognize that fans want to see performances, outcomes, and victories.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has acknowledged that the team is overdue for a championship season.

Although they haven't won the Premier League since Arsene Wenger's Invincibles went unbeaten in the 2003–04 season, Arsenal has 31 points after 12 games heading into their trip to Stamford Bridge.

In the Premier League's history, no Arsenal team has accumulated more points at this point. It's about time, Arteta said.

It's been a while. The opportunity to be there must be earned. We have accomplished that thus far, but we still have a very long season ahead of us.
