Liverpool returned to the English Premier League with a 2-1 victory over a tenacious Tottenham Hotspur side.

Liverpool started quickly and fast in a thrilling match between the two sides, with Mohamed Salah firing a low shot in the 11th minute after the goal.

The hosts had numerous chances to equalize but failed to do so, with Antonio Conte's Tottenham Hotspur specifically targeting Liverpool's right side. However, a costly error by Eric Dier in the 40th minute allowed Salah to double the Reds' lead. It was all Tottenham in the second half and Conte's men had chances upon chances to equalize. They scored one in the 70th minute with substitute Kulusevski making an instant impact, poking the ball to Kane who Cleverly converted from a tight angle.

The hosts continued to press Liverpool's defense and had several close calls, but were unable to find the equalizer, allowing Liverpool to leave North London with all three points.

Jurgen Klopp hits new Liverpool win milestone only 4th manager to do so

Earlier this week, Klopp reached a personal milestone when he took charge of his 400th game for the club, a 2-0 victory over Napoli in the Champions League.

Liverpool then followed that up with a 2-1 win over Tottenham, their first away win of the Premier League season, capping off a positive week.

After the game, Klopp gave the visiting Reds his trademark fist-pumps, which have been conspicuous in their absence for much of the season.Though he admitted in his post-match press conference that he "got carried away," the German did so without knowing the significance of this latest victory.

Klopp is only the fourth manager in the club's 130-year history to have won 250 games as manager.

Paisley (308), Tom Watson (329), and Bill Shankly (407) are the only others to have reached the 250-win plateau, with Kenny Dalglish coming in second (223).As things stand, Klopp has the best win ratio of the bunch, winning 62.34 percent of his games, which is more than any of the 20 managers before him except John McKenna, who won 69.44 percent of a 36-game spell in 1895/96.

So far, Klopp's Liverpool have averaged 2.08 goals per game and 0.99 conceded in 401 games.

Only McKenna (3.22) and William Edward Barclay (2.43) had a better goal-per-game average, and their reigns were over a century ago.

Rafa Benitez (0.86) was the most recent Liverpool manager to have a better defensive record.
