Only EIGHT touches were made by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during his startling reunion with Arsenal.

On Sunday at Stamford Bridge, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a terrible afternoon. He only had eight touches before being hooked just after the hour mark.

The Gabonese forward left Arsenal in January amid controversy over a series of disciplinary issues, many of which had to do with his punctuality.

Aubameyang's chance to exact revenge on Mikel Arteta, the person who chose to allow him to move to Barcelona, and Arsenal quickly turned into an afternoon to forget as the Gunners controlled all aspects of the game to reclaim the league's top spot.

The former club captain would have preferred to have put more of a glove on his old team after appearing in a BT Sport promotional film during the week and telling Arsenal that it was "nothing personal."

Aubameyang struggled to find space against William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, members of the league's second-best defense, and when he did, his teammates had trouble following his runs.

Gabriel himself turned Aubameyang's pre-match jab that it was "nothing personal" back on him after the game due to his lack of danger.

It wouldn't imply that they are afraid of his visiting the Emirates in the coming months.

Gabriel Jesus, who filled in for Aubameyang, had a usually active and productive afternoon, and the numbers may have contributed to Arsenal's league-leading position with him in the lineup.

Jesus got 63 touches compared to Aubameyang's 8, and he also won 11 duels to Aubameyang's zero.

The Brazilian, who is anticipated to be chosen in Tite's World Cup team, executed three other dribbles, one of which resulted in a tremendous opportunity that Martin Odegaard blew. Aubameyang made no completed dribbles.

Key to Arsenal's preparations as usual 18 of the 24 passes that Jesus tried was successful. Only three of Aubameyang's eight touches—five of which were passes—were effective.

After the game, Scott Parker, a former Chelsea player himself, speculated that Aubameyang's performance would have convinced Arteta that they were correct to fire him.

The only criterion by which Aubameyang defeated Jesus was the number of yellow cards from one to zero.

After the game, Scott Parker, a former Chelsea player himself, speculated that Aubameyang's performance would have convinced Arteta that they were correct to fire him.

The majority of Aubameyang's transgressions were related to his termination from the team.

In terms of a group of 30 men, he remarked, "discipline is crucial because there must be a line because of where they are now and where they stand."

"I don't think anything in football is ever personal; decisions are continuously being made based on what you think is best for the team,"

"Mikel made a decision, and it is now clear that it was the right one, he's moved on, and they have kicked on a little bit," the statement reads. These are choices that managers are required to make regularly. Top managers have to make important decisions, sometimes they're brutal, and sometimes they're incorrect, but ultimately, they have to follow their instincts, their experiences, and what they think is best for the club and team. Mikel undoubtedly committed that offense.
