Pep Guardiola delivers incredible Real Madrid claim
Winning the Champions League even once is a lofty goal for some clubs. We've seen teams like Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, which have invested heavily in their teams in recent years, fail to make it past the final huddle and lift the cup with the big ears. On the other hand, Real Madrid has won the biggest competition in European football five times in the last nine years.
Real Madrid has to be considered one of the favorites this time around. They won their group as expected, but were given a difficult draw in the last 16, where they will face Liverpool in a rematch of last season's final.Manchester City are widely regarded as the overwhelming favourites to end their Champions League hoodoo and win the competition this season. They were already a Premier League powerhouse before this, and now they've added an unstoppable goalscoring machine in Erling Haaland to the mix.
Pep Guardiola, on the other hand, continues to elevate Real Madrid in the Champions League. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said on BT Sport during an interview with Rio Ferdinand:
"We will be eliminated from competitions." Without a doubt. Except that Real Madrid always wins the Champions League. You don't do it, the rest of the teams."Guardiola makes an incredible claim for Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Real Madrid did have a bit of a dry spell in the Champions League. Prior to the release of La Decima in 2014, They've been virtually unstoppable in Europe's elite competition since then.
Carlo Ancelotti has won the Champions League twice while at the club. While Zinedine Zidane made history by leading Los Blancos to three consecutive victories. Nobody had ever held the title before that.
The biggest impediment to Real Madrid repeating this time may be a lack of squad depth. We've already seen injuries and fatigue take their toll on this squad, resulting in their recent poor form.
