Chelsea visited Newcastle at St. James Park  in the English Premier League, looking to get back on track after a disappointing defeat to Arsenal in their previous league game. The first half of this game was quite boring, as both teams failed to find the back of the net despite numerous attempts.

Willock, on the other hand, scored in the 67th minute of the second half to give the home team the lead. This was the only goal of the game, which ended 1-0 in favor of Newcastle.

Later on, Arsenal paid a visit to Wolves' Molineux Stadium. Odegaard scored for the Gunners in the 55th minute. Odegaard scored again twenty minutes later, extending Arsenal's lead to 2-0.

Meanwhile, here's how the Premier League table looks after these results.

Mikel Arteta explains what happened with Granit Xhaka after he came off unexpectedly

Granit Xhaka was substituted during Arsenal's 2-0 win over Wolves, but Mikel Arteta has explained the situation and allayed fears that he will miss the World Cup.

Mikel Arteta has revealed that Granit Xhaka's early substitution in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday was due to a stomach bug circulating in the squad.

The 30-year-old midfielder was taken off after only 16 minutes at Molineux, with Switzerland's first World Cup match just 12 days away. Fortunately, Arteta believes Xhaka will be fine to captain his country in Qatar, stating, "He's okay. We had a few boys with some tummy issues, but I'm delighted that we adapted to those circumstances and managed to win the tournament."In an interview with Sky Sports, Wenger elaborated on the Swiss' situation, saying, "He wasn't feeling well, he was sick, and he couldn't carry on." Unfortunately, we have four more players who are experiencing the same symptoms. So I have no idea what happened.

"There were a few players who weren't feeling well, but we made three or four substitutions at that point." The good news is that even in difficult circumstances, away from home every three days, [the players] come here and play well."Arteta was otherwise pleased with his team's performance and the result, which means they will enter the World Cup leading the Premier League by five points. "Today was all about patience because the game they proposed made it difficult with very little space," the Spaniard explained.

"It was frustrating because they were waiting for that mistake to catch us on the break. The speed, purpose, and courage to take more initiative was much better in the second half, and then they won the game.""It was a difficult mental challenge, but that's the mindset you have to have when you're at the top." Our goal is to get better every day, and we still have room for improvement.

"It's been a long time since we've been in this position, and it's a complete transformation because of the fans' energy and passion that they've passed on to these players." "From the top down to every single member of the team and staff, they [the fans] are the soul of this football club."

Arsenal only has two more competitive matches before the end of the year, the first of which is a Boxing Day clash with West Ham United in front of what should be a raucous Emirates crowd. The Gunners will then finish 2022 with a win.
