Despite Roma's interest in January, Barcelona's defender intends to finish out his contract with the team.
Hector Bellerin, a defender for Barcelona, does not want to leave the team during the January transfer window despite interest from AS Roma, an Italian powerhouse, according to SPORT.
This past summer, Bellerin returned to Barcelona, joining on the final day of the transfer window for free after his contract with Arsenal was terminated.
The 27-year-old has struggled since returning to the Catalan club because of some physical difficulties and his inability to play at the required level even when healthy and available.
Given that manager Xavi has had to employ Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde in the position ahead of Bellerin on numerous occasions, Barcelona has been obliged to explore recruiting a new right-back in the January transfer window as a priority.
Given that Bellerin had only signed a one-year contract with Barcelona, there has been a lot of speculation regarding his future there.
According to reports, AS Roma would like to sign the Spanish international in the January transfer window. Because he is familiar with Bellerin from his time in the Premier League, manager Jose Mourinho has identified Bellerin as a target in his priority to add a right-back.
However, the Italian capital club would only be willing to recruit him if Barcelona granted him a letter of freedom or on a temporary basis.
In the approaching winter window, Bellerin doesn't want to leave the Catalan outfit, though. According to reports, the defender told Roma that staying at Barcelona for the remainder of the season is his top priority before deciding on his future.
At that moment, Bellerin will have the option of joining Real Betis, where he spent the previous season on loan, or choosing a new team. But as things stand, the 27-year-old wants to finish the season at Barcelona as per his contract.
