TWITTER COULD STOP WORKING DURING THE WORLD CUP PERIOD DUE TO NEW DEMANDS BY ELON MUSK

As more employees depart the struggling social media behemoth, Twitter has temporarily closed its offices, raising concerns about the site's capacity to remain online throughout the World Cup.

The decision to close until Monday by the corporation was reportedly motivated by worries that departing staff may "sabotage" it.

The most recent uproar is the result of hundreds of employees allegedly rejecting an ultimatum from new owner Elon Musk to commit to longer, harder hours in order to create a new, "very hardcore," Twitter.

Those who didn't sign up will be sacked, according to the multibillionaire entrepreneur who last month paid $44 billion to acquire the site.

The Twitter CEO sent an email to colleagues on Wednesday asking them to affirm they will continue working for the company under his new policies. Those who did not respond by Thursday evening would receive three months' worth of severance compensation.

The number of employees who decided to leave the company seems to have surprised Musk and his team.

The business owner later changed his mind about insisting that everyone work from an office, despite the fact that his initial opposition to remote work infuriated many workers.

In a subsequent email to his staff, Musk softened his earlier tone, saying that "your manager must take responsibility for ensuring you are making an exceptional contribution" in order to receive approval.

Employees will be required to hold "in-person meetings with your colleagues on a regular cadence, ideally weekly, but not less than once per month," he continued.

Musk has slashed half of Twitter's 7,500 full-time employees since taking over the firm less than three weeks ago. He has also fired contractors in charge of content moderation and other important tasks.

Many people have used Twitter to say goodbye to coworkers, and there are rumors that hundreds of employees have confirmed their departure via private communication channels.

As a result, worries have been expressed that the platform would struggle to remain operational as a large number of employees responsible for maintaining it leave the organization and that any issues that develop might be harder to resolve without key engineers on staff.

As users explore quitting the site, the hashtags #RIPTwitter and #GoodbyeTwitter have become popular on the network. Some users have also started directing followers to their accounts on other platforms.

Despite the continuous unrest, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has continued to tweet, frequently making fun of the criticisms of the company by sharing memes and making light of the situation.

"How can you use social media to make a little money? begin with a big one, "He laughed.

Additionally, he asserted that the dispute was increasing website traffic, noting that the business had "just reached another all-time high in Twitter usage" overnight.

However, as the World Cup gets underway this weekend in Qatar, key engineers in charge of maintaining the platform have begun to quit, raising concerns, according to industry expert Matt Navarra.
