Ken Ofori-Atta, the finance minister, has offered an unequivocal apology to Ghanaians for the country's current economic situation and difficulties.
On the heels of the motion of censure against him, he delivered his statement to the ad hoc committee on Friday, November 19, 2022, and referred to the population's crisis as unfortunate.

My colleagues in government and I are daily motivated by the tenacity and strength of the Ghanaian people, despite the terrible effects that rising prices of goods and services are having on the lives and livelihoods of ordinary Ghanaians.
This fuels my determination to keep searching for answers to Ghanaians' numerous problems and relief for the rest of the world, especially since March 2020. Co-chairs, allow me to take this opportunity to tell the Ghanaians what, in my opinion, every finance minister in the world would like to suggest to their people right now: "I am truly sorry," he said.
He argued that the current adversity was caused by the global avian influenza virus (COVID-19), not by the government's carelessness and poor management, as claimed by the Minority Caucus.
The embattled Finance Minister argued that despite the COVID-19 effects, the government had worked to ensure that Ghanaians had a consistent supply of power, that roads were being fixed, and that government employees were being paid on time.
K.T. Hammond, an MP for Adansi Asokwa, and Dominic Ayine, an MP for Bolgatanga East, served as the co-chairs of the committee that was established to hear the case of the finance minister.
The MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the MP for Korle-Klottey, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, and the MP for Akatsi South, Bernard Ahiafor, are additional minority-side members of the committee.
The MPs for Okaikoi Central, Yaw Boamah; Ashanti Akyem Central, Emmanuel Anyimadu-Antwi; and Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, are all on the side of the majority.
