There's no doubt that when school children sit for their final examination being it BECE or WASSCE those in private schools perfect absolutely better than those in public schools.
The question, why private schools perform Better Than Public Schools Irrespective these children are being teachb by non professionals.
PUBLIC SCHOOL CHILDREN
The answer To This 'Why' are as follows.
First, children in public schools lack good infrastructures and serene environment which aid in effective teaching and learning. It's always disheartening to see some death traps structures serving as a classrooms and offices for students and teachers in public schools. It's imperative that effective teaching and learning can take on in such structures and environments. At this computer age, it's saddened my heart that children in these schools don't even have desks to sit on than even computers to learn with. Hence children always perform poorly during their final exams.
Also, unlike children in private schools having quality infrastructure and serene environment, they are being provided with good teaching and learning resources. This enable teaching in such schools less difficult and enable children always perform better than those in public schools.
PRIVATE SCHOOL CHILDREN
Someone may ask why these children facing such problems? Are the leaders not aware of such situations in our public schools? Or because they don't have their children in such schools they don't care whatever may happen to these innocent little ones especially those in remote areas.
It's time our leaders priotize the need of children and teachers in various public schools especially those villages. We shouldn't forget, better treatment of these children today will yield better outcome tomorrow.
Another factor that contributes to low performance in public schools is lack of effective supervision. Unlike private schools that are mainly profit- based institutions, where school owners see to it that teachers and school heads do the right thing at the right time, government schools are not so and students suffer at the end. Officers at national do not have funds and logistics to attend to various regions to monitor what's going on there. Same applies to officers at the regional level. They do not have the means to come to the various districts check on district directors whether they're doing the right. This problem runs down to the classroom. Everyone does what he or she wants in the public schools.
Last but not the least, incentives and motivations always yield high productivity. Where there's is incentives and motivations they tendencies for higher production is real. Teachers and managers at public schools in Ghana barely receive incentives and motivation as compared to those in private schools. Hence the awkward and lackadaisical attitude towards work and at the end the innocent children suffer.
In conclusion, if we always say the children are the future of our great nation, then those children in our public schools deserve what will make it possible for them to become what the society is desiring from them.
Better treatment of these children today, Will Results Better Outcome Tomorrow!
