We are aware that it requires more power; a manual gearbox is also required.

With the unveiling of the brand-new 2024 Subaru Impreza, Subaru gives fans a second chance at glory after disappointing them with the news that the WRX will no longer offer an STI variant. This is the 6th generation of the Impreza, and it has quite recently made its presentation at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show with a large group of features.

The chassis is 10% stiffer than it was before, there is a new RS trim with a 2.5-liter Boxer engine that makes 182 horsepower, and better EyeSight, which is a technology that helps drivers, comes standard. However, sadly, there is also no STI variant in this area. Nowadays, Subaru appears to be more keen on getting ready for EVs and improving wellbeing than giving rides. Let's begin with the reintroduction of the RS trim, which made its debut in 1998 as the 2.5 RS and served as a forerunner to the WRX for the American market. Naturally, there are a few RS badges all over, particularly on the front doors and the rear hatch, and the wheels are dark gray 18-inch alloys. With a black finish, the side spoiler, wing mirrors, upgraded LED headlights, and LED fog lights also get special attention.

The trim accents on the interior of this model come in gunmetal and faux carbon fiber (farbon ciber?).The carpeted floormats feature an RS logo, the front sport seats are trimmed in black cloth with red bolsters, and the shifter and steering wheel are upholstered in leather.

The standard blind-spot monitoring system includes rear cross-traffic alert and lane change assist, as well as heated front seats, rear USB charge ports, and aluminum alloy pedals. Additionally available are a power moonroof, a 10-way power driver seat with lumbar support, and a 10-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system. The Impreza made its debut 30 years ago at the 1992 LA Auto Show as the only compact car to offer all-wheel drive. Every model of the 2024 model year will continue this tradition, with a revised Subaru symmetrical all-wheel drive system that includes active torque vectoring.

The 2.0-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine in the Base and Sport trims produces 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque, while the 2.5-liter Boxer in the new RS trim produces 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. Sadly, a continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard on all trim levels. Even though the Sport and RS trims have paddle shifters and an eight-speed manual mode, a manual would have been more appealing. The Game and RS likewise get the SI-Drive performance board framework, 18-inch compound wheels, and game tuned suspension.

In addition to the features found in the Base trim, Sport models get fog lights, the 11.6-inch media system, and push-button start. Welcome lighting, 60/40 collapsible back seats, far off keyless access, and double zone climate control become the norm for all. Instead of focusing on the entire cabin, that climate system now targets seats that are occupied. The chassis now boasts 10% higher torsional rigidity and is 10% lighter, both of which aim to improve handling and provide a quieter, smoother ride. This is made possible by applying full inner frame construction and additional structural adhesives to the Subaru Global Platform, which increased the length of the chassis from 26.2 feet to 88.5 feet.

A more supportive seat design and an improvement in the ability to block out unwanted sounds in particular frequency ranges are two other minor enhancements.

Inside, the Subaru Starlink 11.6-inch Mixed Media There is remote Apple CarPlay and remote Android Auto in addition to the infotainment framework, which is interestingly accessible on the Impreza.

With a wider field of view, updated control software, and the addition of an electric brake booster, the standard EyeSight driver assistance system now operates more smoothly, faster, and in a wider variety of conditions. At intersections, the system can now detect bicycles and pedestrians more quickly, alert the driver, and apply the brakes if necessary. The current Impreza was named a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS in 2022, making it the 15th time in a row that the vehicle has received this honor. That's probably going to be the case with the new model, but we miss exciting Scoobys, and this one won't do much to speed things up.

It's barely mediocre as a product for enthusiasts.Unless you want a sedan, this popular option will undoubtedly satisfy all of your requirements. When the 2024 Impreza arrives at dealerships in the spring, it will only be sold as a five-door hatchback.

After we drive it in 2023, our impressions will be shared with you.
