Many teenagers have scored in World Cup matches, but only two have done so in the finals. Surprisingly, both of them broke the record in their World Cup debuts. What are the names of these two footballers?
Édson Arantes do Nascimento (aka Pelé) was the first player to accomplish this feat as a teenager. The Brazilian striker did it in the 1958 World Cup final in Sweden. The dual-footed forward scored his first goal of the game ten minutes into the second half, after receiving a pass from left back Nilton Santos. He also scored in regulation time with a header after connecting on a cross from Mario Zagallo.
It is worth noting that the legendary centre-forward set a couple of records during the 1958 World Cup. He is the youngest player to score in the competition and the youngest to get a hat trick at the quadrennial tournament. Pele is also the only footballer to have won three World Cups.
Kylian Mbappé Lottin is the only other teenager to score in a World Cup final. The right-footed striker (Cameroonian father, Algerian mother) accomplished the feat for France in the 2018 edition of the competition. This was 60 years after Pele set the record. Mbappe, the only teenager in the final against Croatia, scored 5 minutes after the hour mark. He was issued a pass.In the 2022 World Cup, a couple of teenagers will play for top teams. Can any of them become a member of the duo?

‘Not a person who talks a lot’ – Cristian Romero on working with Harry Kane
Cristian Romero of Tottenham Hotspur has praised his club teammate Harry Kane and emphasized the importance of the star striker to Spurs.
Since joining the Spurs from Atalanta last summer, Romero has established himself as an important member of the team. The accomplished center-half joined on loan before relocating to North London permanently this summer.
With a hamstring injury, the 24-year-old missed the last six games of Spurs' pre-World Cup schedule (Transfermarkt), and his absence was noticeable at times, with the Lilywhites' backline looking significantly weaker without him.
Romero hopes to play in his first World Cup for Argentina this winter, but his international team coach Lionel Scaloni is skeptical that he will be ready in time for the opening game (AS).
Meanwhile, Harry Kane has had a fantastic start to the season, scoring 13 goals across all competitions. The 29-year-old has now scored 261 goals in 408 appearances for Spurs (Transfermarkt), and his impact cannot be overstated. The importance of having Kane on your side was not lost on Romero, who recently spoke to AS about his time at Tottenham Hotspur and the players around him, with Kane in particular receiving a lot of praise.
"Kane is a great striker, he is a reference for England," Romero said. He is not a talkative person, but he is very important to us [at Tottenham]."
Spurs Online Opinion
We all know how incredible Harry Kane is, but it's very easy for his abilities to be overlooked, and he frequently goes unnoticed for the things he does because we're so used to seeing it week in and week out. It's great to hear Cristian Romero speak so highly of his teammate. It will be very interesting to see if they come up against each other at all during the World Cup, and I'm not sure who wins that battle.
