Argentina has lost their first match in the world cup against Saudi Arabia. Argentina has had a lot of support from fans coming to this world cup and hopes have been high that this team might actually end up lifting the world cup. This loss will go down as one the most shocking loss in the world cup.
Argentina were leading in the first half against Saudi Arabia by a goal to nil. How they ended up conceding two goals in the space of five minutes needs serious answers. Lautaro martinez was able to put one goal in the net at the 28th minute but the goal was ruled out. Should we say Argentina were unlucky or they performed so awful that they deserved to have lost?. We all know that losing a first game In the world cup has a lot to do mentally for any team.
Lisandro martinez has been in great form at Manchester United. Why didn't scarloni start him in this match. If not for lisandro martinez's form at Manchester United they would be at the bottom of the table in the Premier league as we speak. Scarloni should have started Lisandro martinez or better still put in the game sooner and those goals wouldn't have happen.
Also no minutes for Paulo dybala who was also on the bench all game.
Personally I believe this two players I mentioned have a lot to offer if they played today.
Messi tried to give his best in this game but he wasn't given the chance to. I believe been able to shift focus away from messi would have been the right strategy for any coach in Scarloni's situation. But he didn't come up with a special plan. And now they have lost their opening match in the world cup which leaves them bottom on the table. This loss would affect them for sure but we had like to see how they come back from this defeat. They have been on an undefeated run of 36 games before today. They have to win their next two games to qualify and stand a better chance.
