Arsenal demand ‘irresistible offer’ for €60m-rated star with European giants ‘attentive’ to his progress
Ligue 1 powerhouses PSG are said to be 'attentive' to Gabriel Martinelli, but Arsenal will only let him leave if they receive an 'irresistible offer.'
Martinelli has developed into a key player for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal. After joining the London club from Ituano in 2019, his talent was quickly recognized.
Injuries have slowed his progress, but he is undeterred.
Several Arsenal players have been performing heroically in order to keep their team atop the Premier League at Christmas.Martinelli is one of the Emirates' young players who has made headlines this season. It is becoming clear that he has the potential to become a world-class talent in the future.
Although the 21-year-old still has a lot of room to grow, he has five goals and two assists in 14 league games this season.
His form forced Brazil's coach Tite to include him in his World Cup squad.
Brazilian pundit Neto has mocked the decision to include Martinelli, but the Arsenal man will be out to silence his critics in Qatar.Brazil will play Serbia in their Group G opener on Thursday night. They will also face Switzerland and Cameroon in the group stages.
According to Todo Fichajes, PSG "are attentive to Martinelli" and will "keep an eye" on the attacker as the World Cup progresses.According to the report, Martinelli is worth around €60 million, but Arsenal is "not going to let him go unless an irresistible offer arrives."
Martinelli's current contract is set to expire in 2024, so the club's hierarchy is eager to lock him down to a new deal.
This season, William Saliba and Bukayo Saka have also shone, but both players are out of contract in 2024.
Saliba and Saka, like Martinelli, are competing in the World Cup. On Monday, he made his first appearance in the competition's finals, as England defeated Iran 6-2.
Saka was one of Gareth Southgate's standout performers, scoring twice in The Three Lions' resounding group stage victory.Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal's transfer guru, has told supporters that "talks" about a new contract for Saka are "ongoing."
"What a performance from Bukayo Saka as England beat Iran yesterday," Romano wrote for Caught Offside.
"Both goals were of the highest quality, but could a strong World Cup affect his situation at Arsenal?" According to what I've heard, no.
"He was already regarded as one of their most important players, and talks about a new contract are ongoing."
