Cristiano Ronaldo to lose £16m in Man Utd wages as nature of exit talks emerge

Manchester United have agreed to mutually terminate Cristiano Ronaldo's contract following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan, with the forward leaving the club with immediate effect.

Manchester United have fired Cristiano Ronaldo after he trashed the club and manager Erik ten Hag in a shocking interview.

Ronaldo and United mutually agreed to terminate the forward's contract seven months early, costing the 37-year-old £16 million in lost wages. United decided to terminate Ronaldo's contract after he accused the club of "betrayal" and declared he had "no respect" for Ten Hag.Roanldo also accused the club of attempting to force him out and claimed there had been "zero progress" at United since he left for the first time in 2009. According to United sources, it was a "clean break" with Ronaldo, who is now free to join any club he wants.

United issued a statement saying, "Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to leave Manchester United with immediate effect." The club thanks him for his enormous contribution during his two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family the best in the future."Everyone at Manchester United is committed to continuing the team's progress under Erik ten Hag and to working together to achieve success on the field."

Ronaldo issued a statement confirming his departure by mutual consent, saying, "Following discussions with Manchester United, we have mutually agreed to end our contract early." I adore Manchester United and its supporters, and that will never change. However, it appears that the time has come for me to seek a new challenge."I wish the team the best of luck for the rest of the season and in the future."

The news broke as Ronaldo was still in Qatar preparing for Portugal's World Cup opener against Ghana on Thursday. On November 6, Ronaldo captained United to a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Ten Hag benched him for United's Premier League match against Chelsea last month after he refused to come on as a substitute three days earlier against Tottenham. "Cristiano obviously did that interview with the mindset that he wasn't happy and wanted to get out of the club," said Ronaldo's former United teammate Rio Ferdinand. He made it abundantly clear."Erik ten Hag, I believe, got what he desired in this situation as well. Both parties are satisfied, and we can proceed.

"Cristiano's next adventure? It depends on his motivation. Play in the Champions League? Money? To continue playing somewhere with a pleasant climate?

"We'll find out in due course."

Bellingham is expected to follow in the footsteps of Scholes.

Old Trafford legend Roy Keane believes Manchester United target Jude Bellingam will become an all-time great England midfielder like Paul Scholes if he continues his scoring form.Bellingham, 19, scored his first goal in 18 internationals to kick off the Three Lions' 6-2 victory over Iran yesterday.

And Keane believes the Borussia Dortmund star, who is also wanted by Manchester City, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Liverpool, has "everything."

"Absolutely amazing, I think he's brilliant now," said the Irish hardman. Absolutely brilliant,

"He's made a point there about adding more goals to his game at international level, and he does score at club level," Keane said.

"He plays with maturity; he has everything you want in a midfielder in terms of physique, maturity, decision-making, and skill.""This is an excellent finish. You recall all of England's great midfielders over the years, including Bryan Robson, Scholesy, Lampard, and Gerrard.

"If you can incorporate that final step of adding goals into your game. As previously stated, I believe he is a brilliant player in any case, and this is a brilliant goal.

"In his subsequent interview, he comes across as a really good kid who plays with maturity. The kid has everything."
