PLAYERS WHO HAVE MISSED THE WORLD CUP DUE TO INJURY.

Its another four days and the calendar of football presents nothing but yet another thrilling and fun-packed FIFA World Cup in Qatar. 

This would be the last world cup edition to have 32 participating countries since the subsequent editions would have 48 participants. 

The 2022  World Cup is the first not to be played during the summer break but winter forcing a temporary halt to club football across the world. 

Below are some notable players who have missed on the World Cup due to injury; 

1. Karim Benzema 

The 2022 Ballon dor winner, Karim Mustapha Karim had it as a shock to see himself missing out on the Mundial due to injury after failing to represent his country, France in their 2018 triumph in Russia. 

2. Paul Pogba 

Another big upset was when it was declared that the French midfield anchor, Paul Pogba will be able to represent his country as they journey on a quest to defend their title.

Paul Pogba underwent injury in September as early as 20th November, when the Mundial begins

3. Ngolo Kante 

France faces a tough test to fill in the hole left by Ngolo Kante in the midfield. Kante was a vital member in the country's second World Cup title journey in Russia, 2018. 

The 33 year old suffered a hamstring injury in October which rules him out of action until January,2023.  

4. Sadio Mane 

Senegal’s main trump card, Sadio Mane is set to miss the 22nd edition of the World Cup with just a few days to go as he picked up a leg injury when he was in action for his club, Bayern Muchen. 

5. Marco Reus 

An unsurprising but sad was when Marco Reus picked up an ankle injury. The German has had a great season with his club, Dortmund and was set to have a feel of the World Cup after missing out on the 2014 edition in Brazil due to injury.
