The Black Stars of Ghana began their 2022 World Cup campaign with a 3-2 defeat to Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal on Thursday in Doha.
Below is how we rated each player after their performance.
Lawrence Atl Zigi - 4
The goalkeeper was impressive in the first half especially denying Cristiano Ronaldo some chances twice. In the second half he could not improve on his performance that much as the team conceded to three goals.
Alidu Seidu - 6.5
Alidu Seidu's debut was impressive. He improved as the minute count and won decent tackles. He did not relent on his efforts in taking on his markers. He played for 66 minutes and was focused and aggressive.
Daniel Amartey - 5
He was excellent with team work and partnered well with Mohammed Salisu and Alexander Djiku. On the right side his communication with Alidu Seidu was admirable.
Alexander Djiku- 5
Djiku demonstrated and played a decent first half with successful forward passes to find the midfielders. However, he could have improved on his defences throughout the game.
Salisu Mohammed - 6
He proved why Ghana needed him. He was the best man in defence for Ghana. He won commanding tackles and became a barrier to the Portugal team. When Baba Rahman overlapped, he was the shield. Although he committed the foul leading to opening goal, he was impressive.
Baba Rahman - 4.5
Performed a little above average with a few key interceptions and recoveries. However, there was an elephant room for improvement especially with the second goal of the Portugal team. Nonetheless he was awesome.
Salis Abdul Samed - 5
Samed's ability to keep possession was evident in his play. He lost a few times dealing with the attack from the Portuguese side but he was on top of his game.
Thomas Partey - 4
The Arsenal midfielder struggled to deal with the midfield as he does and didn't create many good passes. It wasn't the best of games for him.
Andre Dede Ayew - 7
His performance improved in the second half as he flopped in the first half. He was one of the best players for Ghana, scoring the equalizer for the Black Stars.
Mohammed Kudus- 7
After a struggling first half, he brought his A-game and launched a lot of fierce attacks which inspired the boys to do more.
Inaki Williams - 5
He was quiet playing as the only striker. He had little time with the ball in both halves.
