France became the first team to advance to the knockout round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after defeating Denmark 2-1. They are one of the favorites to win the trophy this year. The French national team is one of four nations to have won the FIFA World Cup and the Euro Championship in the last six decades.

Furthermore, Germany, Italy, and Spain are among the countries that have broken this record. However, Italy did not qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but Germany and Spain would meet in their next group stage match. There are teams that could join these four nations, but they must first win the FIFA World Cup.

Since hiring Louis Van Gaal, the Netherlands has not lost a game and has already earned four points in two games at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Dutch team is undoubtedly one of the favorites to win the trophy this time around, and if they do, they will become the fifth nation to win both the World Cup and the Euro Championship. Portugal, on the other hand, topped their group and now has a chance to win the competition thanks to their contentious victory over Ghana. They won the Euro championship in 2016 and could become the first country to win both international titles if they win in Qatar.

Barcelona to open new contract talks with Marcos Alonso

Barcelona is ready to start new contract talks with Marcos Alonso.

Alonso, 32, joined Barcelona on deadline day after months of negotiations with Chelsea. The Blues eventually agreed to terminate the Spaniard's contract, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's move in the opposite direction appearing to have been crucial in reaching an agreement.

According to Marca, Alonso initially requested a three-year contract, but the club was only able to offer a single season to comply with LaLiga's Financial Fair Play rules. The 31-year-old full-back agreed to a one-year deal at the Nou Camp, with a buyout clause set at £40 million, and took a significant pay cut to join.

The club's hierarchy is said to have been impressed by Alonso and is now willing to offer him a contract extension on the same terms.

Discussions are expected to focus on whether Alonso will be offered a contract until 2025 or a one-year deal with the option to extend for a second year.
