Three possible lineups for England's World Cup match against Senegal in the round of 16
A huge selection dilemma faces GARETH SOUTHGATE ahead of England's World Cup round of 16 matchups against Senegal, the reigning African champions.
Following a tie with the United States and two convincing victories over Iran and Wales, the Three Lions took first place in Group B.
Particularly in top form are Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden.
Rashford, a star for Manchester United, scored twice in Wales' 3-0 victory over England to go along with his goal against Iran, giving him a share of the tournament's scoring lead.
In the final third, Foden also provided some much-needed creativity, and he was rewarded with a goal against the Dragons in the second half.
However, they will go up against England stalwarts Raheem Sterling and Bukayo Saka.
Sterling and Saka have both scored in Qatar, and both of them scored in the 6-2 victory over Iran.
If England defeats Senegal, it will face either France or Poland in the quarterfinals.
This World Cup has already seen strange occurrences.
The following matchup might include Senegal defeating England or Poland defeating France.
However, how could Southgate's Three Lions lineup ensure that they advance to the round of eight?
4-2-3-1
Against Iran and the USA, Southgate deployed this formation twice at this World Cup.
Mason Mount was the No. 10 when the game began, but Foden has scored this tournament while he hasn't.
Kyle Walker played 57 minutes against Wales, therefore Kieran Trippier might return to give the City star extra recuperation time.
Trippier, John Stones, Harry Maguire, and Luke Shaw will all start in a back four if Southgate opts for the 4-2-3-1 formation, and their job will be to defend Jordan Pickford.
In each of these situations, Declan Rice will get the ball first.
Jude Bellingham has been his midfield partner so far, but with Kalvin Phillips getting back into shape and Jordan Henderson getting some playing time, that could change.
Sterling might start on the left and Rashford on the right, but they could switch positions throughout the game.
They will give Harry Kane the legs he needs to be supported.
4-3-3
Against Wales, England switched to a three-man midfield, inserting Henderson and removing Mount.
The ball was in Southgate's team's favor.
The goalie and back four will stay the same, but there may be a midfield change.
In the knockout rounds, England must be aggressive, especially when playing nations like France.
Kalvin Phillips might so join Rice and Bellingham in the three-man midfield.
Phillips is proficient in tackle and in control of the ball.
He has a great passing range as well.
Kane will start, although adjustments may be made out wide with Saka playing on the right and Rashford being moved to the left.
