The Ghanaian President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has announced that the number of students who wrote the 2022 WASSCE final examination compared to eight years ago is 2022 percentage points, and it has been a very good thing.

President Akufo-Addo says that six years ago the Free SHS program was launched, which has given 1.7 million children in Ghana the opportunity to attend secondary school. He pointed out that the 1.7 million people recruited by this government are the first in Ghana's history, and he can boldly say that he is pleased with this initiative and its consequences so far.

The President, while addressing the 70th anniversary of Opoku Ware Secondary School on February 3, 2022, said that this year's students are the third group in his pension examination, and this year's examination results showed that 60.39% of the students scored A1-C6 in English. That is, in 2016, 51.6% of these children achieved A1–C6 in English.

In physical philosophy, 62.45% of them got A1-C6 in 2022, but in 2016, 43.35% got A1-C6. He said that compared to the 65.70% results in 2021, this year's results of 62.45% have fallen slightly behind.

President Akufo-Addo added that 61.39% of students scored A1-C6 in mathematics in 2017, compared to 33.12% in 2016, and 71.51% in social studies, compared to 54.55% in 2016. He said let us not forget that the 2021 batch of students whose examination results were satisfactory were placed under the multiplication track program, which was supported by the universe when they were launching the program.

The president continued that the results of the 2022 examination are the most satisfactory in the last eight years. Consequently, he argues that this free SHS is an excellent program, without any doubt. Explain that it is working, and it is working well.

In his address to the forum, which was attended by Asantehene Otumfo Osei Tutu II and the chairman of the Asanteman parliament, Nana Otuo Serebuo II, the president said the history and experience of prosperous or developed countries have shown the world that the best way to create opportunities in the country and thus represent the country's future is to empower and support the youth in education and employment. He concluded that because the people of Ghana, you and I, especially the youth, will build Ghana, He pointed out that without education, we cannot move from a developing country to a developed country.

It is for this reason that President Akufo-Addo said that despite the many freedoms, the government has invested a lot of money and resources in the Free SHS program. In the 2022 budget, the allocation for free SHS was GHC 2.3 billion, but with its 28.6% increase, it is now GHC 2.96 billion.
