Zlatan Ibrahimovic told former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud that he is the best striker in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Giroud and Ibrahimovic are teammates at AC Milan right now. They have formed a formidable attacking partnership and have developed a friendly relationship. Last year, the Rossoneri also won the Serie A title.
Ibrahimovic put his faith in Giroud for the World Cup. While other superstars such as Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku, and others competed in the tournament, Ibrahimovic believes none were as good as his club teammate.Giroud recently revealed what the Swedish star told him. The former Arsenal striker stated (via Metro):
"I recall Ibra telling me before the World Cup that I was the best No.9 in the competition. I'm not sure who he is, but Kylian [Mbappe] is without a doubt the best attacking winger in the world."Giroud has certainly delivered during the tournament in Qatar. He already has three goals, two against Australia and one against Poland.
Giroud became France's all-time leading scorer with his goal against Poland in the FIFA World Cup round of 16 match.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic praised his club teammate's playing style yet again. He told Canal Plus:
"He is a serious person. He isn't going to score 40 goals a year, but he brings something to the team that few others do because he isn't egocentric on the field. He plays for everyone."Giroud spent a significant amount of time with the Gunners. He appeared in 253 games for the north London club, scoring 105 goals and assisting on 41 others. The Frenchman is currently playing for AC Milan in Italy.
