Arsenal 19yo receives individual award after 1st-team Dubai call-up

Nathan Butler-Oyedeji thanked the fans after winning the EFL Trophy Player of the Group Stage award with Arsenal u21s. Last month, Arsenal's Nathan Butler-Oyedeji won the EFL Trophy Player of the Group Stage award, receiving 45.2% of the vote, ahead of Kieran Sadlier (Bolton Wanderers, 33.7%), Dennis Politic (Port Vale, 11.4%), and Jacob Chapman (Salford City, 9.7%).

The award has now been presented to the forward, and Arsenal posted his reaction on their Twitter account on Tuesday.

"It's an honor to win, and I'm grateful to everyone who voted for me," Butler-Oyedeji said. "Each game brought a new challenge; it was a great learning experience for myself and the team."

Butler-Oyedeji scored three goals and assisted one in four group stage appearances.

The youngster then scored against Stevenage in the first knockout round, but Arsenal lost 3-2. Butler-Oyedeji's return to form couldn't have come at a better time, as he's now in the squad for the first-team tour of Dubai, while Gabriel Jesus is out injured for a few months.

The 19-year-old will almost certainly play in the upcoming friendlies in Dubai, and it's not out of the question that he'll play in the FA Cup against lower-league opposition in January, when Arsenal face Oxford United.
