Portugal defeated Switzerland in the World Cup's last 16 round. Without Ronaldo, Fernando Santos' team won 6-1.

The striker was enraged by the coach's decision, and after the game, he posted on social media, "Luxury display," he said, avoiding controversy.

According to 'Record,' Ronaldo threatened to leave after being told he would not play against Switzerland. Furthermore, his relationship with Fernando Santos is not ideal.According to the same source, the straw that broke the camel's back was an argument with the coach. The '7' considered leaving the squad, but decided against it because he realized how much was at stake for Portugal at the World Cup.

The Federation denies that any of this has occurred. Portugal does not agree with the recent reports about Cristiano Ronaldo. Otherwise, the player decided to continue, but he was not seen training with the rest of the team on Wednesday.

Jude Bellingham v Aurelien Tchouameni: Midfield battle key to quarter-final

When England faces reigning champions France in a World Cup quarter-final on Saturday, Jude Bellingham's midfield battle with Aurelien Tchouameni will be crucial.

The PA news agency assesses one of the key matchups here.

Taking a step forward

France appeared to have suffered two major setbacks when star midfielders Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante were ruled out of the tournament due to injuries.

Tchouameni, a Real Madrid youngster, has been one of the tournament's standout performers, patrolling in front of France's defense and snuffing out attack after attack.

The 22-year-old only made his international debut a year ago, but he already has 18 caps and has started all four World Cup matches so far.

He has dictated France's play from deep, allowing Adrien Rabiot to move into more advanced positions and provide support to Antoine Griezmann in the number 10 position.

Tchouameni leads France in distance covered per 90 minutes with 10.2km.

Bellingham (9.9km) is third for England, tied with Mason Mount, and trailing fellow midfielders Declan Rice (10.7km) and Jordan Henderson.

The 19-year-old has emerged as England's driving force in midfield. He is constantly making himself available to teammates, with his tally of 108 offers to receive the ball per 90 minutes being the highest in either squad.

Tchouameni has shown for the ball 73 times on average every 90 minutes.

Quick feet

With his movement, Bellingham is the more explosive of the two, ranking third across both squads in terms of sprints per match (61), trailing only Jack Grealish (66) and Phil Foden (66). Tchouameni has averaged 37 sprints per 90 minutes.

Apart from England's Harry Maguire, Tchouameni has covered the least distance by 'high speed sprinting' among the outfield players in both squads.

Bellingham has run nearly four times as far (250m) at an equivalent speed.

Tchouameni, on the other hand, is France's top passer, with 76 completed per 90, trailing only John Stones (83) across both squads. Bellingham has completed 49 passes in 90 minutes.
