The latest transfer rumours coming from Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho targets Memphis Depay signing.
According to reports, Roma manager Jose Mourinho has set his sights on signing Manchester United target Memphis Depay, with Barcelona willing to sell the Netherlands international for £4.3 million.
Depay, 28, previously spent 18 months at Old Trafford between 2015 and 2017 after being welcomed by Louis van Gaal, the current manager of the Netherlands national team. However, the PSV graduate was unable to replicate his best form at United, scoring only seven goals in 53 games across all competitions.
Despite his difficulties, Depay re-emerged as a force to be reckoned with at Lyon, where he scored 76 goals and assisted 55 in 178 appearances. It was enough for Barcelona to come calling last summer, but Depay appears to be surplus to requirements.Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with his signature. However, according to Tuttosport [via Team Talk], the striker is wanted by Roma to replace struggling former Chelsea man Tammy Abraham, who has only scored three goals in Serie A this season.
Depay has played more minutes for Holland at the World Cup than he has for Barcelona this season. As part of his efforts to improve his squad, Mourinho has been linked with a winter move for Hector Bellerin.According to CaughtOffside, United face competition for highly-rated Brighton holding midfielder Moises Caicedo, with Saudi-backed Newcastle emerging as potential suitors. United have been interested in the 21-year-old for some time, with Chelsea also interested.
Caicedo's performances on the south coast this season have been lauded. He has returned to the club following his World Cup adventure with Ecuador, which ended at the first hurdle, with three Premier League suitors still interested in spending £60 million or more.
